The 1980s heralded a construction boom in the country, driven by vigorous government-led initiatives. It was an exhilarating era for the construction industry, characterized by rapid growth and expansion. It was amidst this dynamic backdrop that QS Associates was founded.
Our journey began with three founding partners, all of whom had recently served with the JKR. This experience equipped us with the expertise and tools necessary to establish a reputable quantity surveying practice. In 2006, the firm transitioned into a partnership between Sr. Nik Sufian Zain (one of the founders) and Sr. Mizai Yusri Zainudin. Following Sr. Nik Sufian’s retirement in early 2022, Sr. Nik Zalini Ismail joined as a partner, ensuring continuity and fresh perspectives.
Over the years, we have served a diverse clientele, ranging from individuals to large conglomerates. Our portfolio spans a wide spectrum of projects, including bungalows, palaces, link houses, condominiums, shop offices, office towers, retail outlets, shopping malls, chalets, hotels, clinics, hospitals, daycare centres, universities, landscaping, and infrastructure.
Since our inception in 1980, we have navigated numerous challenges and weathered significant economic crises during 1985/86, 1997/98, and 2008/09. Despite these setbacks, we maintained our commitment to our team, never resorting to layoffs or pay reductions—until the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. This global crisis has tested our resilience, but we remain determined to persevere.
As we look ahead, we recognize the power of technology to enhance our services. From early days of manual calculations to the cutting-edge BIM and AI solutions of today, we continually evolve to meet the demands of the modern construction industry.
